Best practices for a successful THESIS
START WHERE YOU ARE
THESIS is a process. It gives you visibility into where you are now as a benchmark to get you started. As part of your scorecard, THESIS provides you insights that you can use to improve year over year. It’s important to respond even if it’s difficult, if your data is incomplete, and if you can’t answer all questions or relevant assessments. THESIS retailers value engagement and action on sustainability.
If you're deciding where to get started, we recommend identifying all your products, all retail buyer(s) they are sold to, and which assessment they are within scope for.
Prioritize where to get started by:
- Which product categories cover the majority of the products you sell
- Which product categories do you supply to one or more THESIS retailers
- Identify internal processes or existing reports that can provide the data you'll need to complete the KPI
Remember that THESIS retailers value engagement. You can add THESIS assessments and complete them to the best of your ability at this moment, even if you can't respond to all KPIs or if your data is incomplete.
IMPORTANT: Over time, ensure that you continue to expand the assessments you complete to cover the full portfolio of your products. This will maximize the value you get from THESIS.
It’s important to respond even if it’s difficult, if your data is incomplete, and if you can’t answer all questions or relevant assessments. You will receive insights in your THESIS Scorecard that you can use to improve over time.
Consistency is reporting year over year ensures you can track and compare progress and changes across product categories.
UNDERSTAND THESIS SCOPE
Understanding THESIS Scope means you’ll be able to collect the data that you need to complete your assessments and most importantly that you’ll receive better quality insights from your THESIS assessments.
The information you collect for these KPIs should cover your global production and not be specific to any region or buyer (e.g., retailer) and should cover the last available year of data
BEGIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
The amount of time it takes is difficult to predict and will depend on your internal data environment and your supply chain. To ensure you have enough time, begin planning your THESIS assessment process as soon as possible to ensure you give yourself the time you need. Some questions require you to collect data within your company and supply chain
57% of THESIS KPIs require data collection up the supply chain in order to complete. Begin as soon as possible to ensure you have the time you need.
